notably different than the other songs produced by the Allman Brothers Band, Ramblin' Man was released on Brothers and Sisters, the first album released after Duane Allman's untimely death on October 29th, 1971. rather than being a hard rock song like Whipping Post or Jessica, Ramblin' Man is probably closer to country-rock than anything; in fact, due to this, they considered not recording the song entirely.
Ramblin' Man would end up being the Allman Brothers Band's biggest hit, reaching #2 on the Hot 100 (blocked from #1 by Cher's Half-Breed) and #12 on the Easy Listening charts.
